Hasina Begum (Science Content Advisor)

As a PhD student pursuing my dream in Science and Engineering there are a few words I would like to share with young people who have the same drive and passion in Science as I do.

I come from an ethnic minority, Bangladeshi background where pursuing studies to such a high level (PhD – the very last step of education) and particularly for a female are very uncommon and unheard of. It is through the support and encouragement of my family and my own tenacity that has allowed me to get to where I am today, and for that I am truly grateful.

I still have a very long journey to go to pursue my dream of becoming a scientist that makes an impact to the world and so if there are any words of advice that I can give to a young person wanting to achieve the same, I would say; dream big, work hard and always allow the impossible to seem possible, all you have to do is be persistent and not give up.

I look forward to meeting you all soon at one of our local community science event.
