Thanks to our major supporter, the Institute of Physics, and our host partner Heybrook Primary School, and in conjunction with United Nations World Science day – come and join Rochdale Science Initiative C.I.C on Sunday 10th November 2019 for an extra-special family fun day.

Jam-packed with exploration, discovery and experiments for all the family as we celebrate the wondrous world of Physics.

At 12noon, the day will open with messages and a presentation from key science professionals and dignitaries including our founding ambassador; 12 year old Labib.

Around 1.15pm, Fun Science will take to stage to perform a shocking, electrifying and hair-raising full scale theatrical science show with lots of audience participation. Afterwards, there will be giant bubbles, rockets that will fly high above Heybrook Primary School playground and coke and mentos explosions!

Throughout the day, Immersive Experiences will provide the opportunity to explore our universe inside a 360° VR planetarium.

Flashbang Science is a fantastic bright mobile lab which will pull up right outside Heybrook Primary School playground. On a first come, first served basis, families will be able to literally walk into a lab environment, don a lab coat, goggles and become scientists all under the supervision of professional scientists for a session. There will also be intermittent outdoor science busking led by FlashBang Science.

Institute of Physics North West regional manager will put together physics related hands-on activities to try, and also create a chill-out zone where families can play physics games or read some of the latest interesting science related books.

Members from Manchester Science Festival team will engage families with hands-on making activities.

Rochdale Dippy on tour team will be present to educate us on the long lost dinosaur history.

Our own PhD student Hasina Begum will be leading a range of exciting, family-friendly DIY physics experimental activities that all ages can enjoy.

Rochdale Science Initiative team will be showcasing an array of cool physics gadgetry to test and play with.

Heybrook Primary School playground will be swamped with physics-sport activities. And so much more!

P.S – keep your energy levels topped-up with tasty treats from our food stalls.

We can’t wait to see you!

All young people need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
